Private vs Group Lessons

Which is better and for who?

The presentation above is an outline used in a recent remote workshop for an intermediate student seeking to shore up some skills to improve his knowledge of settings and to better evaluate the images he captures. He received a PDF file of this presentation that also includes a pathway for continued success, assignments, benchmarks and recommendations.

Private vs Group Class

A large portion photography students are beginners. They are either new to a camera, challenged by the technology or have not been taking advantage of the equipment properly due to a lack of understanding of just how the camera operates and they keep reverting to shooting in AUTO MODE (jpeg). The majority of others have a very specific goal weather that be greater proficiency editing, mastering portraiture, setting up a studio, purchasing new equipment and so on…

If this is you, a single private session is the best way to start based on your specific goals and objectives. I will create a custom workshop based on your current equipment, skill level and goal for the workshop. I’ll prepare all the notes for the session and include a companion guide for your reference to keep. I will also include a recommended path for success, and be available to you for any subsequent questions you may have or offer feedback to some of your subsequent images to keep you improving.

We can take your 800 page camera manual and break it down to 6 or 8 basic settings along with the understanding of why we are using them. You will be taking better pictures immediately, but more importantly, with confidence and a better understanding of HOW YOUR CAMERA ACTUALLY WORKS.  You can focus less on the science and more on the craft. That’s where the fun is.

If this sounds good, click on the link below and tall me a little more about your equipment and goal and we can schedule a private workshop just for you.

                      Remote vs In-Person

Busy schedule? Prefer learning at your own pace? Our one‑on‑one online photography classes put convenience first — live, private instruction where you are, paired with high-quality graphics, annotated images, and step‑by‑step support materials that make concepts stick faster than a single in‑person session.

I highly recommend a remote session, at least for your first workshop or if you are simply looking for a “jump start”.  If your needs require some photography theory and key concept training, you need to understand your equipment better or if you are a visual or auditory learner then a remote session is for you.

In additon, thre are no traffic, parking, or weather issues and scheduling is much more flexible.

In-person workshops are still very popular but are more suited for kinesthetic and social learners or those wanting a little more “hand-holding” or a social experience.

                      GROUP WORKSHOPS

Group workshops are reserved for learners that may be at different levels in their photography experience or those who prefer learning and networking with others on a much more narrow topic of mutual interest.
